How comforting to know that God instructs His children in the way to go. Reading Psalm 32 this morning I was struck by its reminder to me of the absolute necessity of my ‘quiet times’ alone seeking God in prayer and the will of the Spirit through the word of God for enabling that I might grow in the grace and knowing of our Lord Yeshua. At Psalm 32:8-9 it says this:
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
This morning it taught me in a deeper way that its not about “doing quiet time” as some religious practice but the voluntary delighting to come to God with a whole heart in Yeshua by His Spirit to seek His face for His instruction, His mercies and His grace to help for the living out His salvation and also for growing in conscious awareness of His presence with me, always. To learn from Him – and learn to do His will.
I was also so thankful to God for the wonderful prayer petition obtained from verse 7 through the words underlined below:
‘You are my hiding place
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.
Selah’
What a wonderful prayer! Glory to God.
Amen.
