In my Gospel reading this morning at Mark chapter 10, I was struck by the account of the miraculous healing of the Bartimaeus of his blindness by Yeshua at verses 46-52. What struck me most was that after he had, by God’s grace through faith in Yeshua received his sight, Yeshua told him to ‘go his way’ and the Scripture said that he followed Yeshua. This blind man, given his sight, knew that his way was to follow Yeshua.
How clearly this points to the marvellous grace of God in Yeshua the Messiah to us – that we being blinded by sin and thus in darkness, by God’s grace through faith in Yeshua came to Him, ask Him for ‘sight’ (to be brought into His light), received it by faith in the atoning sacrificial death and sinless shed blood of Lord Yeshua on the cross and His resurrection on the third day and then enabled by the Spirit of God to follow Yeshua, trusting that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only Way to the Father (John 14:6).
Consider afresh the words at verses 51-52 (Mark 10):
‘So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.’
Our way is not to follow our way any longer but to follow Yeshua in His way.
God bless you.
