Thinking of how to describe the sense of truth being deepened within in such a powerful way I came across an article in Got Questions website which described it completely. The article defines the word ‘epiphany’ in three ways and it was the third definition which encapsulated the thrill that filled my heart as I saw afresh with clear clarity in an instant a familiar truth. It states this:
A third definition of epiphany is “a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something, or an intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking.” It is also defined as “an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure or a revealing scene or moment.” (see Got Questions at https://www.gotquestions.org/epiphany.html).
What happened was this:
If you have read some of my blogposts before, you will know by now that my personal quiet time in the word of God and prayer is in the mornings and usually begins with a Psalm or Proverbs reading. Each day I read a Psalm consecutively all the way through the Book of Psalms and likewise the Book of Proverbs repeating the cycle when finished. I also do this for the Gospels as daily staples apart from times of reading, feeding and studying through the Old & New Testaments. These are precious times alone in the Lord either before or after a time of prayer. Recently delivered from a period of dryness and lost zeal – praise the Lord – Psalm 102 had come as my morning psalm. I found much which resonated with me at verses 1-11; much instruction in the purposes of God for me in verses 12-22 but it was in verses 24-28 that I sensed my heart soar. It was Psalm 102:24b-27 in particular which struck deep:
Your years are throughout all generations.
Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
They will perish, but You will endure;
Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will change them,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will have no end.
What a deep impression of the truth concerning the everlastingness of God that the words which almost immediately and effortless sounded forth in my soul were:
O LORD, You are The Everlasting God!
In my thoughts followed the thought that Heavenly Father is indeed the everlasting God. Is it not written, my thoughts led on, at Psalm 90:2:
‘Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting,
You are God.’
The Everlasting God the Father has revealed Himself through – perfectly through – His only begotten (unique) Son, Yeshua the Messiah who is Lord. (My meditations just then took in the words which came immediately to mind at that point in Colossians 1:15 concerning Lord Yeshua, that ‘He is the image of the invisible God’). The words in the Psalm before me however points to the Epistle of the Hebrews, chapter 1 verses 10-12 which quote these very words also concerning Lord Yeshua. He is the everlasting Lord God. Just then as I reflected upon Lord Yeshua the words at Micah 5:2 flowed effortlessly into my thoughts, which say this:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”
(Incidentally, this prophesy concerning Yeshua the Messiah and His birthplace was given hundreds of years before His birth in Bethlehem and is only one of the many prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures fulfilled by Lord Yeshua, Messiah, Son of God.)
As I continued in reflection, meditating on the wonders of God, of His truth that by the sinless shed blood of Lord Yeshua, when He offered Himself for our sins on the Roman cross in His atoning sacrificial death and His resurrection on the third day, Him now seated at the right hand of the Father, the wonder that through the faith in Him received by the grace of God through His Holy Spirit, I can come to Him. We can come to Him today. We can come trusting in the promise that ‘..He always lives to make intercession for [us]’ (Hebrews 7:25) who are His.
Continuing on in reflections on the everlastingness of the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, yet another precious promise, proclaimed to Israel so long ago at Deuteronomy 33:27 also came to my thoughts bringing rich and deep comfort within. It says this:
‘The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms.’
How thankful I was and am for the comforts of God in Messiah Yeshua by His grace through faith! How could I have known when I opened my bible to read the morning’s Psalm that the Lord would so graciously further the work of revival and renewal of zeal I had been seeking of Him. This precious promise recorded in Deuteronomy is true for all of us who have repented and believed upon the Lord Yeshua, trusting in His atoning sacrificial death, sinless shed blood and resurrection for the sure and certain forgiveness of our sins and the certain hope of salvation. We who have fled from our own ways into the obedience of the faith of Lord Yeshua through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit by God’s grace have such comfort in Him! Did you know we can never fall out of His everlasting arms! Isn’t that wonderful! For anyone reading this who have not yet put the trust in the Lord Yeshua – I implore you, change your mind (repent) and believe on Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the only Son of the Living God and you shall be saved and be safe in His arms too. Please do get in touch if you would like to speak on more this.
May we all who have already fled the world to Lord Yeshua our refuge be strengthened with might through the Spirit of God as we persevere in the faith of our Messiah Yeshua, in the love of God and comfort of the Holy Spirit. These are indeed difficult and dark days as Lord Yeshua already warned us, but ‘underneath [us] are the everlasting arms’ to bear to us up and to bear us on until Yeshua comes back or calls us Home to Heaven.
Shalom.
