How wonderful are those moments when you just know that the Heavenly Father has sent you grace to help you just when you need it to pull you through ‘one of those moments!’ There have been many such occasions over the years, and I wanted to share just one example with you.
Mornings are usually my ‘quiet time’ in the Lord Yeshua which include reading through prayer diaries and reflecting on the situations surrounding the requests. This is usually a great encouragement to my faith as I often read of all the Lord is doing despite terrible persecutions and sufferings of Christians in some parts of the world. I’m grateful for matters of thanksgiving and rejoice when I read of a soul being won to Yeshua. Recently one morning however, I sensed a feeling of weariness, that the needs so great, my prayers so frail and could sense apathy playing around the edges of my heart, waiting for the opportune moment to pounce! I prayed inwardly as I pressed on asking the Lord to help me not to grow weary of praying for these brothers and sisters but that inward struggle persisted.
It was as I ‘happened’ to look over at my phone nearby that I noticed a sister in the Lord, who I very rarely see these days, had sent me a YouTube video of one of her favourite hymns, ‘He giveth more grace’ written by Annie J Flint, beautifully sung by a male quartet of believers in beautifully green surroundings somewhere in Kerala, India. (This is the YouTube link if you would like to hear it – https://youtu.be/hzhKGPireAA.)
I almost didn’t listen to it just then but was so very glad I did for it surely was the timely grace needed to enable me to seek God in prayer with a whole heart. The quartet chose for their ‘theme’ the Scripture at 2 Corinthians 12:1:
‘And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.’
He Giveth More Grace
By Annie J Flint
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labours increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
May you know His timely grace being given again and again and again!
