Praise the LORD and let not your heart be grieved.

I was so blessed by my morning Psalm reading of Psalm 113 this morning.  Indeed, it is a Psalm of praise to the LORD! And Amen!

As I was meditating on the words at verse 1, ‘Praise the name of the LORD!’ it was brought to mind that the meaning of the words ‘the name of the LORD’ speaks of the character and nature of God, as revealed in Scripture by the Holy Spirit.  I was also reminded that His works also declare something of who God is. Our God is so good!

In this thought, I found myself considering that Lord Yeshua, the Son of God, has come from Heaven and made plain the truth of our plight, that we and the world are under judgment on account of our sin, hat He has told us of the way out of our trouble and that He Himself is the Way, having paid for our redemption by His sinless shed blood and atoning sacrificial death.  His resurrection was the evidence of all these things. He has told us of God’s Kingdom to come, where ‘God will wipe away every tear…there shall be no more death, or sorrow, nor crying’ (Revelation 21:4) and that He is the One who prepares a place for us who have believed in Him and will come to take us to be with in in Father’s house (John 14:2-3).  Imagine if He had not come,  that we had not known the truth of our plight and that there was no salvation but only ‘a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation which will devour’ (Hebrews 10:27)!  Imagine if God had not sent His Son! Imagine if Lord Yeshua had not suffered on the Cross as the Sin-Offering that we through Him might be redeemed!

Praise the name of the LORD is indeed right and true and proper – for salvation, if nothing else, even though we have so much to praise the Lord for!

In this wonderful time of meditating on the word of God, it was as though the Lord was showing me afresh not to worry or grieve over the things this world denies me and things desired but denied to me in this life.  Once again I was reminded that rather, I’m to continue in trust towards Him, growing in faith and obedience, leaving all my cares behind for He Himself and His salvation gives much much more than anything I could desire.

I was comforted in being reminded – yet again – that the Lord sees when I’m treated unfairly, overlooked and hurt and that I shouldn’t allow myself to dwell on these things (and fall into bitter resentment and bitterness – again!).  How wonderfully it came to me that I am instead to remember the words which just then flowed into my thoughts, recorded at Psalm 37:3-4:

‘Trust in the LORD, and do good,

Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Delight yourself also in the LORD.’

I have no need to grieve over the painful experiences in this life but rather to praise the LORD! And when such painful and grieving times come again, as will be so in this life – may this good word in Psalm 113 flow back into my heart that I may be enabled to indeed praise God.  Psalm 113 says this:

Praise the Lord!

Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.

The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
 Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
That He may seat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.
He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.

Praise the Lord!

Amen!  How thankful I am for a balm for griefs.
